That’s what made this trip stand out for us. It wasn’t flawless, and things didn’t always go according to plan. There were surprises and those little bumps every trip seems to have. But honestly, that’s part of what made it so great. It turned into one of those adventures we’ll talk about for years.
Here’s what made the trip truly memorable, and some ways to create the same magic yourself.
We picked Jaipur. That city’s got plenty for everyone: history, vibrant markets, amazing food, and loads of things to keep kids and adults interested. It ended up being
just the right size—not too overwhelming and easy to get around.
Jaipur worked well for a few reasons:
The sweet spot is between November and February—mild weather, easy to walk around, and no one’s cranky from the heat. Summer (April–June) is brutally hot, and the rainy season (July–September) is quieter but you’ll have to dodge showers.

Accommodation really makes a difference. We went for a mid-range hotel that offered big, comfy rooms in a good location. It was just right—comfortable but

Riding an elephant up to the fort is a classic—and the architecture blew us away. The kids were pretty much awe-struck.
Lots of history, but easy to get around and full of interesting things to see. You can learn and wander at your own pace.
We didn’t need long here, but snapping family photos with that backdrop just felt right.
Some of our favorite moments were haggling for souvenirs, trying on bangles, and picking up treats. Everyone found something that felt special.
No deadlines, no distractions. We actually listened to each other, laughed, and just hung out.
We kept things simple. Sightseeing, then breaks. No one got worn out.
Sharing fresh jalebis, posing for silly pictures, wandering side streets and getting a bit lost—all those small moments added up.
We had an outline but didn’t stress over it. That space let the fun and spontaneity happen.
Food was a big part of the adventure, too. We sampled spicy Rajasthani thali, munched on street food, and even played it safe at times with hotel meals for the kids.
Pro tip: pick clean, busy spots, skip crazy-spicy dishes for little ones, and always have extra snacks on hand.

Looking back, what made this trip special wasn’t really the city or the sights. It was those messy, happy hours we actually spent together.
